Simple compassion is easier then a big white dood in the sky...

J recently had a friend of her's staying with us... Her friend, who we will call Crazy or C for short, is literally crazy, bipolar, and doesn't take meds, etc... Her whole family is like that... on top of that she is VERY messy... BUT that's not the point of this entry...

The point is her staying here got me to thinking... see, she is a "moderate-born-again-Christian" (read conservative) AND she just moved to the Bay Area (WAHOO! :::sarcasm:::) and she HATES liberals and liberalism, though I am convinced that she doesn't know what that means. She was actually in a Whole Foods in OAKLAND and told J that she hates liberals. J, said, "you better watch yourself, you ARE in Oakland. Watch what you say!" Another example of her ignorance being, she literally didn't know that Steven Cobert was a farce.... I know, I know, you can stop laughing now... I was in shock when the point came up... I almost fell off of my chair when I myself heard it... And moving to the Bay Area and hating liberalism is akin to being a Klan member and moving to Africa.... SERIOUSLY, who does that!?

Anyway, all of this, the conservatism, the general ignorance, the "Christian ideals" etc.. made me think that people are really stupid... Why must we need a "god" and "afterlife punishment" to be good to people? Why must the conservative base expel the belief that humans have no obligation to one another other than "what god says"? Why cant we just do good for people because they are a fellow human? Why do most people think that humans do not have that ability? Do we think that lowly of ourselves?

I saw a man today on the BART that was asking for 85 cents for a hotdog... no one gave him a second look... I gave him a dollar and he looked at me with such compassion and appreciation it made me feel good... and shit I dont believe in a god... I'm not afraid of hell or big-daddy-god saying good job J, good job, now you'll get 85 BJs in heaven when you are dead... I did it because I thought, If I asked for some money for a hotdog, EVEN if it were for a beer or drugs I hope someone would give it to me. I hope that someone would feel enough compassion for me if I were down on my luck to help.

Conservatives have the mind set that, people need to build themselves up, that if you work hard enough and long enough you will make something of yourself etc etc etc, bullshit bullshit bullshit... Even if that were true and everyone made something of themselves then who in the hell would clean up shit and toilets and garbage etc... the whole entire idea is flawed, not everyone can HAVE, The philosophy is actually based on the idea of "the haves" and the "have-nots"... it is inherently a system of Fuck You, I am better and I "want what you have."

Not to mention that people are BORN with mental illness, (actually 90% of all homeless people have some form of mental illness!) or with parents that are on drugs, or drunk, or could give a shit about them and FUCK if the system helps! How are they supposed to pull themselves up by the boot straps and go to Harvard and major in business and be a general douche bag like the privileged kids? THEY CANT! The system is biased.. either these conservatives are fucking stupid and dont understand economics or they have no heart!

Mix this ideal with that of the Christian mentality of, "You should believe in Jesus and if you dont you are going to hell" and you have a pretty fucked up way of looking at other humans.

Conservatism is what is wrong with our of society! For all the shit that I talk about the Bay Area, the "hippy bullshit" the bleeding heart liberalism etc.... I would rather have that any day of the week then Christian assholes judging me and hating everyone that don't believe in the way that they do. And I know that they say they "love" everyone but come on in all honestly we know that those Christians that kill homosexuals and burn crosses really dont love. They aren't doing them a favor by killing or yelling about how they are right and everyone else is wrong... They are judgmental and full of hate... That is not love, no matter what you call it.

The only thing that I will concede to however is that it sometimes it really is hard to help some people out when they are in need.....especially a crazy christian conservative!
